"Wolfs" (2024)

“Wolfs” follows two rival professional fixers in New York City who are reluctantly forced to join forces when a scandal involving a prominent district attorney spirals into chaos after a young man's mysterious death. As they race against time to cover up evidence of a drug smuggling operation intertwined with mob connections, the duo’s clashing methods and simmering egos gradually give way to an uneasy partnership. More than the action and danger, however, what they really struggle with is the ethical dimension of their “craft.” Both men have a similar code and begin to realize that they were mentored by the same person, a person who it seems, is betraying them and their code.

In a world increasingly about, “might makes right,” how do moral people respond? Even more, how do people of faith respond? Do we get in bed with corruption, power, and the world to fight evil? Are “lesser evils” the enemy of our enemy, or just evil? Can people engaged in such powerplays even be considered moral?

It is an interesting journey to watch these ambiguous and questionable “lone wolf” types grapple with these questions. When their actions and decisions ultimately lead them to a trap and betrayal, they are stoic about it. The viewer can’t help but ask, should they have made different choices right from the start, rather than convince themselves there was a higher code governing their path towards destruction.
