Academy Awards 2008-2019 3/1/25 (A Part 3)

Continuing the thought of reexamining the Oscar Best Picture winners, here is my take on the years 2008-2019:

2008. Slumdog Millionaire?

I like it but The Dark Knight was such an oversite it led the Academy to allow up to 10 movies starting the next year.

2009. The Hurt Locker?

Inglorious Basterds or Up are better

2010. The King’s Speech?

Another good picture, but I think Inception or True Grit have stayed more relevant.

2011. The Artist?

Tree of Life or Midnight in Paris would have been my pick.

2012. Argo?

I like it a lot, but this was the year to give it to a Bond film.

2013. 12 Years a Slave?

About Time is the best movie of 2013.

2014. Birdman?

Maybe, for another weak year. Grand Budapest is a film I revisit more

2015. Spotlight?

Yes, although Inside Out may have more staying power.

2016. Moonlight?

Pretty and interesting, but Arrival was a better nominee and Doctor Strange would be my choice for an MCU Oscar.

2017. The Shape of Water?

The Post, Lady Bird, and Get Out were better films nominated and I might have considered It Chapter One. Lego Batman could have won too.

2018. Green Book?

Roma was the best picture.

2019. Parasite?

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood should have been considered and Knives Out should have been nominated and won.
