Terror of Mechagodzilla (1975) Saturday Monster Movies
In Terror of Mechagodzilla, the aliens from the last film are back, and they have recovered Mechagodzilla. However, this time they enlist the help of a mad scientist who has made two important discoveries: 1. A dinosaur has survived into modern day. 2. He can control animals (and said dinosaur) through brain waves. The aliens intend to use him to control the dinosaur to attack humanity. They also intend to put organic brain matter in charge of Mechagodzilla and control it that way as well. (Which seems unnecessary when Mechagodzilla is already a robot, a machine, and by definition, controlable!)
The mad scientist is totally on board with helping the aliens kill off all of his fellow humans for one reason: he wants revenge on all his academic colleagues who mocked him for his ideas. Never mind that his ideas were both: correct and provable. Rather than vindicate himself by proving his theories, he would rather avenge his honor by killing—not just the academics who ridiculed him—but all of humanity. Makes sense!
The lesson here is obvious if somewhat silly in its presentation. Revenge is self-defeating.
