Hebrews Introduction
I find Hebrews to be an intimidating book. Probably because I have visited and read it less than other New Testament books. But that is, in turn, due to the ways that it is a challenge. We don’t really know who wrote in, nor to whom it was written. It isn’t really a letter like so many other New Testament books, but it does have some aspects of a letter. It is probably more of a sermon, that was written and sent out. To whom and where to is still a mystery.
It should not be the challenge that I think of it as, as it seems to have a fairly straightforward structure. The aim and the message are clear. That said, it does appear to more obviously rely on an extensive knowledge of the Old Testament and Jewish tradition. So that might also lend to the intimidating nature of the book. I look forward to seeing what a deep dive into Hebrews will bring!
