Cruel Chili Choice

some time ago

I encountered a dilemma

     consume a ghost pepper

     or habanero

one would cause pain and suffering untold

the other would be unpleasant

     but bearable

advised to choose the

lesser of two evils

     I perceived that the choice was a fraud

     but even I didn’t see

that the harmless habanero

was in fact the dreaded

     dragon’s breath chili

lucky for me it

didn’t quite kill me

     only nearly I

     barely survived

forced now to face the

very same quandary I’m tempted

     to eat the ghost pepper
