Halcón

he thought of himself
as a terrifying eagle
or at the very least
an imposing, scary hawk
but as he strutted the yard
trying not to hobble
no one would have described him
as the cock of the walk

he didn’t even manage
ugly bald head vulture
at least that would be
intimidating if quirky
when he unleased his crow
everyone heard a gobble
no predator he
he was the thanksgiving turkey
