Zoolatry
When the whale breached next to her kayak
Suddenly all began to make sense
“This thing is big, vast, and powerful.
I will devote my life to its defense.”
Before, she thought she was the center
Her whole life revolved around her
But now she saw that such self-adulation
Was wrong
Short sighted
And dense
The truth is this life depends upon her
She the savior; it her cetacean god
Meanwhile
The whale barely noted her presence
It swam on singing
As its own God intended
