Stranger Things 3

It has been three weeks now, so talking about Stranger Things 3 is fair game, right?

Stranger Things has done it again, creating a story that is exciting, compelling, nostalgia inducing, scary and fun. It once again had great music, cultural references, and characters that are real. And this season we moved away a bit more from the kids (who aren’t kids anymore!) and focused on wrapping up the Hopper story arch.

Hopper went from a broken man who was destroyed by the death of a daughter, to a man who had found a new purpose in raising a new daughter. And now, in season 3 as things look like he is starting to lose the new one to the more natural, desirable loss (growing up) he gets to do what he would have gladly done back at the beginning of all his troubles: sacrifice himself for her and the others. (Not that we really think he is gone, look at the end of season 1 and the fate of Eleven.)

The final moments of the series, when Eleven reads the letter Hopper wrote to her, are what this series is really all about. If you haven’t watched yet, what are you waiting for? All the monsters, the supernatural, the political intrigue and threat, are really just the backdrop for realistic characters going through realistic growth and lives that we can be inspired by. Here is hoping this continues in season 4! (Along with some cathartic addressing of the Russian interference in our business!)
