"Death Was Arrested"

I am a sucker for this song. For one thing, it is in my favorite time signature. But even better, it is all about the most amazing message in the history of creation. It is a beautiful, poetic celebration of the Gospel.

A key element of our worship, our thankfulness and praise for Jesus, is our awareness of where we were in sin and what God has done to save us. When we really understand grace—not the get-out-of-jail-free idea, but the real unmerited mercy that God bestows on us—and what it cost, then we have reason to sing.

And that is what it is to be a part of the church and the Kingdom of God, not just a sing-song club, but people aware of what they’ve been given and living a life of worship.
