The 47th Best All-Time Film
(17th Pre-1973)
Vertigo (1958)
47 is the slot devoted to this masterpiece. Sight and Sound consistently rank it in the top 2 slots of all time. Why so “low” for me? While it is a wonderful piece of art from a true master, I just like a handful of his other films better. I don’t enjoy Stewart in the character that is possibly his least likable. I don’t really buy into all the Freudian stuff. That said, it is a fun story and a beautiful visual. And, 47 is still pretty high considering.
