Top 51st Film All Time
"You Can't Take It With You" (1938)
18th Film Pre-1973
As we get down to the twenties on the lists of best films, we arrive to the top 50 all time. Kicking us off at 51 over-all is this lovely, earnest, and yes, Capra-corny story about values.
They used to call Capra’s movies “Americana,” but it is hard to see this side of America anymore. And the call to “Make America Great Again” is not looking to get back to these values. Those ideas lie more with the “villain” of this piece, Anthony P. Kirby.
Ture, this is an old picture from a different time, but it is highly worth the view.
