Top Movies 62-64 in Brief

64. The Philadelphia Story (1940)
Another romantic comedy that gets away from the formula. This is a story about learning to love in spite of imperfections. Plus, it has my two favorite actors together for once.

64. The Three Amigos (1986)
A comedic masterpiece that has often been imitated (even well, see Galaxy Quest) but never as brilliantly.

64. The Bourne Identity (2002)
   The Bourne Supremacy (2004)
   The Bourne Ultimatum (2007)
A new approach to spy movies that ended up saving the Bond franchise as well. I like the first one best as the later two get a too spastic with shaky-cam, but all three have fun with the locations.

63. The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog (1927)
Hitchcock tells an incredibly complex story without the benefit of sound. I imagine he invented several film conventions doing this movie. The first of many of his brilliant “falsely accused” stories.

63. Evil Under the Sun (1982)
I love these Ustinov Poirot films, but I have to admit I’ve only seen a couple of them. This is my second favorite.

63. Shaun of the Dead (2004)
Simultaneously the best Edgar Wright film, the best Zombie film, and the best horror comedy film of the century. It is great satire.

62. Blackmail (1929)
Hitchcock made his first sound film, using sound in ways that no one had thought of. Ninety years on, this still holds up.

62. The Muppet Movie (1979)
The lovers, the dreamers, etc. Only Muppets can get away with this level of sentimentality.

62. The Muppets (2011)
And they still have it, all these years later.
