Epilogue (Revelation 22:6-21)
As we get to the conclusion of Revelation, we return to the epistolary context. John talks about the angel who has been showing him the last bit, and about instructions regarding the work as a whole. And, we get some of the most beautiful words in the New Testament:
With all of the imagery of the end of the world—with the assurance of the victory of the Creator and the failure of the rebellion against Him—the revelation ends with an invitation. Readers are invited to return to God. Come. Come drink of the water of life. Come partake in the restoration of creation.
“The Spirit and the Bride say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.”
